Marian Kathryn Batzer, age 96, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025 in Venice, Florida. She was born in Curtice, Ohio on February 14, 1929 to the late John and Mildred Gruetter. She was raised on a farm, attended Capital University in Columbus Ohio, and graduated with a BA in vocal performance and music education. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She initially taught elementary music for 6 years, spending an additional 19 years teaching 3rd grade, all in Belleville, Michigan.
She retired to sunny Naples, Florida, continuing her passion for music, singing in her church choir and community chorus. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, golf, family, and friends, sharing her optimistic outlook with everyone.
She was the devoted wife of the late Clyde W. Batzer. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Skelly (Ladd) and Dr. Jon Batzer (Terry). She is also survived by grandchildren Lindsay (Don), Tyler (Ashley), Kathryn, and Audrey, as well as great-grandchildren Lila, Mylo, and Clara.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Memorial donations may be made to The Village on the Isle Scholarship Fund (920 Tamiami Trail S, Venice, FL 34285) or the Angel Patron Fund at Faith Lutheran Church (7750 Beneva Rd., Sarasota, FL 34238).
