Barry J. Panozzo, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Blue Island, Illinois, Barry shared 56 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Frances J. Panozzo. Together, they built a lifetime of memories, love, sacrifice, and resilience. Barry lived in Dolton Illinois, Ottawa Wisconsin, and Venice Florida. He was 77 years old.
He is preceded in death by his wife Frances Panozzo and his parents John Panozzo and Hilda (Huber) Panozzo. He is survived by his three siblings. Jeri Prellop (Fred), Sharon Pals (late husband Don, partner Kurt), Larry Panozzo (Judy). Three Sons Timothy Panozzo (Amy), Jerome Panozzo (Erica), and Steven Panozzo (Katy). Grand Children (Isabella Panozzo, Phoebe Panozzo and Madison Mason). Two Great Grandchildren (Sunny Lindsday and Judah Lindsday). He is survived by numerous friends, nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Barry Graduated from Thornridge High School in Dolton, Illinois. At age 16, he met his future wife Fran. They were married on August 19, 1967.
After high School Barry pursued the word of the Lord at Concordia University in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He later was called to serve his country in Vietnam with the Kentucky National Guard.
Upon his return from war, Barry chose to serve and protect his home town of Dolton Illinois as a police officer from 1970 to 1990 in the south Chicago suburb. Before retirement, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant. In all these years, he was proud to say that had never raised his gun in the line of duty.
From there, Barry moved on to a second career following his passion for carpentry and home improvement pursuing a career with American Olean Tile Company in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Barry achieved numerous sales awards for outstanding work including the president’s award for the highest sales in the company nationwide.
Through all of these paths, Barry never relented on his dedication to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ serving as elder for the various churches he attended over the years. He always found a way to continuously serve the Lord.
Barry battled illness bravely at the end of his life and received support from his friends all over the country with prayer, deep conversation, and visits from his neighbors. These Godly acts strengthened his faith.
Funeral services for both Fran and Barry will occur on Saturday November 2, at 10am at Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice Florida. Services will be broadcast live on the internet.
