Betty A. Sullivan, formerly of the Tolland and Stafford Springs, Connecticut area died April 18, 2026 at her home in Zephyrhills, Florida, with her family by her side. Betty was born on September 27, 1946 in Stafford Springs, CT to the late Melvin Sullivan and Mary (Elkanich) Sullivan.
Betty was an avid horse person her whole life and enjoyed all aspects of working with horses, including training, pleasure riding and driving and working with children through the 4H club. Betty belonged to several equine organizations through the years, including the Reddington Rock Riding Club and the Connecticut Horse Counsel, where she helped organize events and create legislation to safeguard horses and their riders. Betty enjoyed her retirement in Florida and she will be missed greatly by her many friends and family members who loved her.
Betty is survived by her 3 children, James J. Little, III and his wife Amy of Northport, Fl, her daughter Colleen A. Little and her wife Elizabeth of Surgoinsville, TN, and her son Michael R. Wheway and his wife Sandi of Kingsport, TN, 5 grandchildren Matthew, Jamie, Dakota, David and Alivia and 7 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her Grandaughter Corinna and Great grandson Aden.
Honoring Betty’s wishes, there will not be a formal service, however, family will gather together in Connecticut over the summer to share memories.
