Clyde Alan Cullings, age 86, passed away Friday 30 July 2021 of leukemia. He was a resident of Frankenmuth, Michigan, Blind River, Ontario and Florida. Clyde was born in May of 1935 in Mariaville, New York to Clyde and Margie Cullings. He was the middle of three children, Joanne Kruger (deceased) and Nancy Schworm (survived). His family worked together to run Mariaville’s phone company, garage and bus company. Clyde was a GE apprentice foundry man in New York. After attaining a BS at Ohio Northern University, he taught high school math in Ohio, where he met his first wife, Ruth. They moved to her hometown, Saginaw, Michigan, where Clyde became an industrial engineer for Chevrolet. His career took him to General Motors and then to EDS where he participated in the development of the Systems Life Cycle (SLC) methodology that became the standard for EDS. The combination of his past experiences afforded him the opportunity to teach SLC throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil and Australia. Clyde was married to Ruth Janet Anderson (deceased in 2011) for 51 years. Together they enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and vacationing at their summer home in Northern Ontario. They were actively involved in Square and Round Dancing and Clyde called for several clubs including the Frankenmuth Calico Twirlers for 42 years. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, classic cars, playing cards and spent much time deepening his faith through active involvement in his local church and Bible studies. Many knew Clyde for his boisterous laugh, keen sense of humor and his many songs. Three years after the death of his first wife, Clyde gave love a second chance in marrying Barbara Van Der Noord who also loved spending time on the same lake in Northern Ontario. They were married for 7 years. Clyde and Ruth had four children: Kimberly Chase (David), Robert Cullings (Nancy), Margaret Bourquin (Pascal) and Christopher Cullings (Marisa). They had 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
