Daniel Joseph Devlin, of Spring Hill, FL (formerly of Hoffman Estates, IL), passed away on February 17, 2024 In Tampa, FL at the young age of 41.
Daniel was born on October 23, 1982 in Melrose Park, IL. He spent his early childhood years growing up up in Schiller Park, IL, where he played baseball, earned his green belt in Tae Kwon Do, and spent endless summer days at the pool with his sister.
In 1991 the family moved to Hoffman Estates, IL. Daniel began 4th grade at Thomas Jefferson Elementary where he met life-long friends. Daniel enjoyed bike riding with his friends, taught himself some riffs on the guitar, and spent his days doing typical boy things. He transitioned into Fremd High School, had girlfriends and admirers, and his love for music grew founder. Deeply inspired by his Auntie Gloria’s favorite bands, Daniel, too, also grew a deep love for Pink Floyd. Daniel also loved Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, and John Mayer to name a few. During high school, Daniel took a carpentry class and built his first newly constructed a single-family home through Fremd High School’s program before graduation. That was where his love for carpentry began.
After high school, Daniel formally learned his carpentry skills through the Union Carpenter’s Apprentice Program and graduated to Journeyman in 2006. He worked for several construction companies with the Carpenter’s union but when the housing market took a turn, Daniel joined the Painters Union as an apprentice for a few years and then went into the remodeling business where he worked several years before relocating to Spring Hill, FL in 2021.
Daniel loved most things about Florida. His parents and the warm weather made his decision to move an easy one, even though it was hard to leave his niece and sister in IL. He quickly landed his dream job as a Superintendent with Adams Homes where he managed new home construction from start to finish. He closed about 52 new homes in his 2.5 years with the company. His family was extremely proud to see him exceling in his new career. In his free time, he enjoyed several rounds of golf with his father, grandfather, and coworkers, and loved to sit poolside enjoying a corona or two as his favorite tunes filled the air. Just before he passed, he told his mom about his love for the ginger cone flowers, and how he could see her planting them all around their pool cage.
Daniel is surrounded by his Aunt Gloria Spina, Grandparents Daniel O. and Laverne Devlin, Great Grandparents, family pets, and many other ancestors.
Daniel is survived by his parents, Daniel T. and Teresa Devlin, his loving sister, Shannon, and beloved niece, Amber Grasso. Daniel is also survived by his grandparents Joseph and Rose Spina, many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him and he loved dearly.
