Darla Ann Bohrer, aged 66, passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2024 at Tidewell Hospice House, Port Charlotte, FL after a brief illness.

Darla was born in Aurora, IL to Stella (Merkel) Christian & F. Odin ‘Dean’ Christian and lived/grew up in Yorkville, IL.

Darla met the love of her life Robert and they were married on October 25, 1980 at the First Lutheran Church in Plano, IL. They lived in Oswego, IL until 1989 when they moved to Troy, OH. They then moved in 2023 to Fort Myers, FL where they had vacationed for over 30+ years.

She worked in various retail positions over the years including data entry, computer operator with Spring Hill Nursery, and photography clerk with Meijers.

Darla had a friendly outgoing personality & would strike up a conversation with almost everyone she met. Many of these developed into life-long friends. She touched many lives with her energy, generosity and bright spirit.

One of her greatest passions was to attend/follow NASCAR races. She was hooked in 1999 when she & her husband along with two close friends traveled to Charlotte, NC for their first NASCAR race. Throughout the years, Darla & Robert attended numerous races in the eastern, southeastern, and Midwest areas of the US. Many of the race fans she met would return year after year to the same races which then generated deep & lasting friendships.
Darla also enjoyed participating in the many activities at Cypress Trail RV Resort such as Canasta, 500, & Euchre as well as attending MLB spring training games (Twins & Red Sox).

Darla was preceded in death by her parents Dean & Stella Christian.

Darla is survived by her beloved husband Robert, sisters Sheila & Donna, brother Ken, stepsisters Lisa & Michelle and much-loved stepmother Sandy. She also leaves behind an aunt and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life gathering will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity or local hospice.
