David Matthew Martyn, age 51, passed away on March 13, 2023, in New Port Richey, Florida. David grew up in Springfield, Missouri, graduating from Kickapoo High School in 1990.

David was a Persian Gulf War veteran, serving honorably in the United States Army from 1990-1993, achieving the rank of Private First Class. For his service, he earned an Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze service stars, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Combat Infantry Badge, Driver & Mechanic Badge and Marksmanship Badge. When David left the Army, he worked in sales for many years.

The true loves of David’s life were his many German Shepherds. David spent his days, scuba diving, boating, biking, and working in his yard.

David is survived by his parents, James and Ketta Martyn; sisters Sherry Bryant and Kimberly Martyn; half-sister Michelle Martyn; half-brother Michael Martyn; aunt Nina Davis; and nephews, nieces, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Clark and Lora Lamphier, and uncles Dennis and Kenneth Lowe.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery on April 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pasco County Animal Services, 19640 Dogpatch Lane, Land O’ Lakes, FL 34638.
