Frank Davenport Magers, III of Venice, Florida passed away suddenly on July 20, 2023 at the age of 57.
Frank was born on September 1, 1965 in Baltimore, MD. He grew up in Baltimore County and graduated from Chesapeake High School. In 1988, Frank was married to his former next door neighbor, Susan, and they went on to have two children. The family relocated in 2000 to their current home in Venice, FL.
Throughout his life, Frank worked in either the construction field or in the restaurant industry. However, his first priority was always his family. He became involved in his son’s many sports activities including baseball, soccer, golf, and high school football. He also supported the local disability community and was actively involved in accessing services for his children.
One of Frank’s favorite places to hang out in Venice from the time he moved to town was the Gold Rush BBQ. For the last twelve years, Frank worked at the restaurant in various positions but ended his time as one of their managers. Frank loved food – cooking it, serving it and eating it. He showed people his love by feeding them. He was known for his friendly smile and giant hugs and that will be missed most by his family, friends and customers.
Frank always cared for others, before he cared for himself. He loved fishing and going to the beach. He loved riding his bike, going for walks, and having play dates with his beloved dog Remus.
Frank is survived by his wife Susan; his son Brian Magers (Jennifer); his daughter Michaela Magers; his grandchildren Carington and Farrah; his mother Raye Jean Lesser; his sisters Clara Frado (Perry) and Deanna Rhodes (Donald); his brother Steven Lesser (Delia); his sister-in-law Patricia Bowings (Jason); and numerous neices, nephews and cousins.
Frank was predeceased by his father Frank Magers, Jr. and his in-laws Nancy and Norman McDermott.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 21, 2023 at Grace United Methodist Church. The family will be available at 4:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to share a meal afterwards.
