Gary A Setzer, 67 of Port Richey Florida, passed away suddenly at home on February 16, 2023, and was surrounded by his most loyal four-legged companions, Baby, Annabelle, Mary Jane and Rosie.
Gary was born in 1955 in Hampton Virginia to John (JD) and Marjorie Setzer, both deceased. He started out as a roofer at the age of 15 and went on to learn the construction and home remodeling trade. Gary ran his own company G&M Builders for many years, then moved to work in home remodeling. He later went back to his original profession roofing, where he continued to work until the day he died.
He loved riding his Harley Davidson, and had practically ridden motorcycles since birth. He was an avid gardener, a talent inherited from his parents. There was no plant he couldn’t save. His hands were a true gift from God. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build, restructure or repair. His resourcefulness was simply amazing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was extremely generous. He would give a stranger the shirt off of his back or his last five dollars. His faith was strong and he was a servant of the Lord. He did his best to follow the lessons from his pastor.
He is survived by his brother, Charles E Setzer (Sherry), and his sisters Barbara S Allen and Karen S Williamson (Buzz); his children Jonathan A Setzer, Patraic W Setzer, Kara L McMillan (Steve), and Amanda M Rosenbaum (Shawn), and his grandchildren Brianna, Aiyana, Hayden, Athena, Landon and Luke, and the mother of his children Lori Setzer. His first wife Elizabeth G and eldest son Thomas D preceded him in death.
