Heather Anne Rider of Austin, Texas, entered eternal life on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the home of her mother Lynne Rider-Bates, and stepfather, Wendell Bates in Madeira Beach, Florida, at the age of 50.

Her spirit is carried on by her loving daughters, Madeline Walker, and Jordan Walker, mother, Lynne Rider-Bates, stepfather, Wendell Bates, brother Brandon Rider, her extended family and friends from all walks of life.

Heather was a strong proponent of education. After graduating from Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado, she went on to further her education at Western State University in Gunnison, Colorado earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She went on to Texas University at Austin, Texas, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science. Then continued her MLIS studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

While being a member of several women’s organizations throughout her lifetime, her favorite was Polka Dot Powerhouse, a global networking organization. She loved what they represented and her fellow members.

Her favorite pastime besides reading was exploring coffee shops with her daughters and friends. Her goal was to try every coffee shop in the Austin area. If she didn’t visit them all she came pretty darn close!

Heather’s true joy came from her daughters Maddie and Jordan. She marveled at their creativity, through dance, theater, and artistic abilities. She was always supportive of the girl’s dreams, aspirations, and goals. Heather said my girls can achieve anything they set their minds to.
