James Robert Smith, age 62, of Clearwater FL passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Nolan (Jack) Smith; Mother, Thelma Martino; Stepfather, Paul Martino, Sr.; Brother-in-law, Kenneth Collier, Sr. and his maternal and paternal Grandparents. He is survived by his Stepmother, Molly Smith; Son, Jeremy (Lisa); 3 Grandchildren, Zach, Josie and Amelia; Sisters, Mary Craig and Margie Collier; Stepbrothers, Brian Smith (Karen) and Paul Martino (Alisha); Nephews, Jacob (Kristy), Kenny (Christina), Michael, Kris (Anna), Nelson, Conner and Jordan as well as 15 Great-Nieces and Nephews.

He grew up in the Southern Hills area of Kettering, Ohio, was a 1978 graduate of Fairmont West High School and attended the University of Cincinnati. James worked in the Manufacturing Industry for 42 years and was well respected amongst his peers for his expertise in this field.

He was an avid sportsman and began following the University of Dayton Flyers at a young age and playing basketball with Southern Hills United Methodist Church. His passion for sports continued with Flag Football (Coors Light Silver Bullets), softball (too many teams to list), golf (Saturday 7:00 a.m. tee times), the Cincinnati Reds (Big Red Machine), Cincinnati Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes. His other passions included the Beach and “Old Time Rock n Roll.” There will be a Memorial Service on Madeira Beach in Madeira, Florida at a date and time to be determined.
