John A. Ponder, 60, of Deland, Florida, passed away on March 21, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida. He was born on July 14, 1963, in Deland, Florida.

John is survived by his sons, Jonathon Ponder and Jeffery Ponder; daughter, Caylin Ponder; and brother, David Ponder. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. John was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ponder, and father, Kenneth Ponder.

John attended Deland High School. He was a well-known local race car driver, winning many races at Volusia Speedway and was the 1993 NASCAR Sunbelt Regional Champion. In recent years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being involved in his local church.

As per John’s request, no public funeral or memorial service will be held.
