John Clark Bailey, age 84, of Venice, Florida, died peacefully on September 3, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on November 2, 1941, at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, New York. He was the son of the late Frederick Bailey and Helen (Cook) Bailey. His brothers, Robert and Thomas Bailey, preceded him in death. He spent many years living in York, Pennsylvania, where he raised his family and built his life before moving to Venice, Florida.
He was a 1959 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and York College of Pennsylvania. John proudly served in the United States Army and later enjoyed a successful career with Topflight Corporation, working in production control and sales before becoming a market manager. He was a lifetime member of the Viking Athletic Association and a member of the Venice Moose Lodge.
John was a man of deep faith who shared a close and personal relationship with God. His faith was an important part of his life, giving him strength, peace, and a foundation of love that he carried with him throughout his years.
John found joy in so many things. He was an avid Penn State football fan and loved playing golf, bridge, surf fishing, reading, and traveling. Most of all, he loved music—from classical to doo-wop—and dancing with his beloved wife.

His stories, jokes, and infectious personality were a big part of what made him so unforgettable. He had a special way of making everyone feel welcome—to know John was to love him.
John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bonnie; his two children, son Shane Bailey and spouse Lila, and daughter Allyson Gaitan; and his grandchildren, John, Erik, Katie, Helena, James, Paul, Lauren, and Alex.
