We are devastated to share that our son Joseph D Hanson Jr, 42, tragically ended his life on January 24, 2026 in Port Charlotte, Florida after a long and difficult struggle with depression.
Joseph Dale Hanson, Jr. was born to Julie Ann Hanson (Reed) and Joseph Dale Hanson, Sr. in Superior, Wisconsin on February 24, 1983. He graduated from Proctor High School in 2001. He moved to Florida in 2017.
Joe is survived by his longtime partner, Mike Androsky of Port Charlotte, his parents Joe and Jill Hanson of Proctor, siblings Krista Sikes of Hibbing, Trevor (Preston) Tack of St. Paul, and Lexi Hanson of Duluth, his grandmother Gloria Hanson of Eau Claire, WI
Joe was preceded in death by his mother Julie A Hanson (Reed) and Grandfather Ronald Hanson.
Joe loved weekends at the family cabin on Strand Lake. After Joe and Mike moved to Florida, Clearwater Beach held a special magic for him, a place where he felt most himself and he found a rare calm there.
Joe was a gifted caregiver and manager of multiple group homes in Duluth for several years. In Florida, he earned an impressive matrix score delivering for Amazon. He also worked as a drug and alcohol counselor, and he most recently worked for the City of Punta Gorda as a water plant technician, earning several certificates of achievement in the four months he was there. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life is being planned forSunday, February 22, 2026 at his and Mikes home in Port Charlotte, FL
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for MN family and friends.
