Kenneth Lester Johnson Jr

Kenneth Lester “Ken” Johnson, age 75, of Punta Gorda, Fl. Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27 th , 2024 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice with his family by his side.

Born December 28, 1948 in Pontiac, Il. He was the son of Kenneth and Maxine (Langhoff) Johnson. He graduated from Central High School in Joliet, Il.

Ken started his career with Starmann’s, Inc., typewriter and business equipment supply company. He eventually assumed partnership of that company, as well as Inacomp Computer
Center in Joliet until he retired in 1997.

Ken and Betty retired to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1997. Both involved with Community Life Center Church. Ken kept busy with being President of the homeowner’s association of their
community and working at Dillard’s Department store in the shoe department. Ken later worked for Publix for several years. Ken was involved with Relay for Life in Port Charlotte raising money for Cancer research. Ken and Betty started an annual wine tasting event called “Popping the Cork on Cancer” where all money raised went to benefit Children’s Cancer Research in Tampa.

Ken was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather who loved talking to people and making friends everywhere he went. He could not go anywhere without running into someone he knew.

Ken was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with loved ones and lived life to the fullest.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years, Betty L. (Sinn) Johnson of Punta Gorda, Fl. Two sons, Jamie (Marissa) Johnson of Melrose Park, Il. Michael (Christine) Johnson of Fort Myers, Fl. Four grandchildren Jillian, Delaney, Aiden, and Avery. Sisters; Kathy, Maxine, Beverly, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents: one brother Richard Johnson, sister’s Irene Martin, Donna Johnson; Brother-in-law; Wendel Martin, his wife’s parents, Jim and Wilma (Bevill) Sinn, Betty’s brother, Harry Sinn.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Ken’s honor to Children’s Cancer Research of Tampa.
