Michael (Mike) David Fakler passed away on July 17th, 2024 in Sarasota Memorial Hospital after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 63 years old. Mike was originally from Kensington Maryland and moved to Florida 20 years ago settling in Sarasota.

He is survived by his mother Beatriz Fakler, his brother Ed Fakler, sister-in-law Terrie Fakler, nephews Justin and Jake Fakler, niece Lauren Fakler, and an extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles both here in the US and in the Dominican Republic.

Mike was a well regarded cook/chef at a number of establishments in Treasure Island Florida. For the past several years, he was a loving caretaker for his 90 year old mother in Sarasota. Mike had an extraordinary zest for life and seemed to relish every moment of every day doing the things he loved to do which included grilling, fishing, and being with friends and family. It is tragically ironic that he had a heart of gold.

His family is planning a private memorial service in Maryland once things are settled in Florida.
