Michael James Richards was born to Rev. Wilfred and Diane Richards on March 26, 1965 in Denville, New Jersey. He grew up in Lakehurst, New Jersey, Selbyville, Delaware, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Love from near and far surrounded this father, brother, uncle, and cousin as he entered his final moments on this earth. Michael carried grace and courage through a long battle against many health conditions. This beloved son passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026 in Cape Coral, Florida. He was 61 years young. Michael served in the United States Navy with the rank of E3, completing his service in Florida and Philadelphia. After leaving the military, he devoted most of his professional life to working as a licensed practical nurse in Lancaster and York Counties, Pennsylvania. His work reflected the same dedication he carried into every part of his life. While raising his family in Lancaster County and in Ozamiz City in the Philippines, Michael loved taking his loved ones to explore public parks, nature preserves, rivers and other bodies of water, fireworks displays, and historic sites. He found joy in simple adventures, sharing the beauty of the world around him with the people he cared for most. Michael’s interests were uniquely varied. He carried a lifelong love for science fiction, especially the stories he found in books and on television. He read often, watched shows like Doctor Who and Star Trek, and went to Trekkie conventions whenever he had the chance. As an adult, he nurtured a quiet passion for collecting colorful geodes, quartz crystals, and rocks with animal fossils. In his youth, he kept an eclectic stamp collection from around the world.
