Robert (Bob) Mendola

01/22/1938 - 05/21/2023

Robert (Bob) Mendola, age 85 went home to be with the Lord on May 21st, 2023 in St. Petersburg, FL. Bob was born in the Bronx, lived in Westchester, NY for 65 years and retired to Tierra Verde, FL in 2004. Bob married his middle school sweetheart Lucille, and they raised their family in Westchester, NY. Bob and Lucille just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Following high school Bob proudly served in the Navy. Bob then became an entrepreneur with his first Barbershop in the Bronx, followed by New Rochelle and later in Greenwich, CT where he owned his final salon, Gianni’s. He touched and impacted everyone that met him with his smile, sense of humor and his kind and loving heart. He always made you feel special. All have been touched, inspired and impacted by this precious, unique man, whether you were his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, client or friend.

Bob loved playing his instruments and playing music with Lucille. He played the trumpet, ukulele and she played the piano. They made beautiful music together. Bob loved to cook, eat great food, fish, spend time on the beach and loved his Jazz music. His final message was “Don’t turn the music off. I’ll be right back.”

Bob is survived by his wife Lucille, his adoring children, Elise & (Ed), Robert & (JoAnn) and Lauren & (Frank). He had 6 grandchildren and their spouses who he adored and had a personal relationship with each one which was so unique and special; Lauren & (Alex), Eddie & (Melissa), Chet, Michael, Joseph and Taylor – who was not only his granddaughter but his magnificent, personal awesome nurse to the end of his earthly life.

The family will be planning a Celebration of Life Ceremony to be held in the near future. Details will be passed on through family members to all. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Gifts are not requested however if inspired, you may make a donation in memory of Bob to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at https://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org
