Rosita Dutton

05/25/1939 - 03/30/2022

Rosita Dutton, 82, passed away in her husband’s arms on March 30, 2022, following a three-month sudden illness. Rosita made her home in Littleton, MA, since 1972 and previously lived in Needham. She spent the past 25 winters in the Fort Myers Beach sunshine with a beautiful group of close community friends.

Rosita was born in Ermita, Cuba, on May 25, 1939, the daughter of her late parents Geraldo Sanchez and Aurora Lara, and lived in Guantanamo, Cuba, until the age of 20. In 1960, her sister, Gicela Davis, and her late husband, Elwood Chapman, sponsored Rosita to join her in the USA. They helped her get established, receive her citizenship, and get her first job with the Bishop Family of Dover, MA as a nanny to their nine children. To help Rosita meet new friends, the Bishops signed her up for a bowling league where she met the love of her life and husband of 59+ years, Charles (Charlie) Dutton.

Rosita is survived by her loving husband, Charles B. Dutton of Littleton, and Fort Myers Beach, Florida, daughters Natalie Dutton-Smith of Pepperell and Sherry Dutton of Littleton, her son Charles G. Dutton and his wife, Kathleen Bush-Dutton of Littleton, and four grandchildren: Shelbey Dutton-Smith of Milford, NH, Kendall Walters of Manchester, NH, Sydney West of Littleton, and Adam Dutton of Littleton. She also leaves behind her two great-grandchildren, Colton and Amara. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Gicela Davis of Boulder City, NV, and many loved extended family members throughout the U.S. and Cuba.

Rosita was a member of the Liars Club for many years in Fort Myers Beach and loved spending time with “the girls,” making many friendships, especially enjoying the planning of luncheons when it was her turn to host. Friends and family always requested “Rosie’s world-famous congri” for every event where food was served. She loved cheering on the Red Sox and Patriots, going to the casino, playing bocci and bingo, going to yard sales, staying on top of celebrity gossip, and always had a word search book nearby. Family and friends knew never to call when she watched her favorite story, The Bold and the Beautiful. What she loved best was being home and taking care of her husband.

A celebration of Rosita’s life will take place at her home in Littleton on May 28, beginning at 1:00.
