Sharon Lee Biggers

Sharon Lee Biggers (Nee Butler), age 75, of Port Charlotte, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 after battling breast cancer. Sharon was born October 19, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to Grant and Rosemary Butler (Nee Meier). She spent her early childhood in St. Louis and in Indianapolis, Indiana before moving to the Miami/Hialeah area of Florida as a teen with her family She joined the Job Core in her late teens and attended Cosmetology School in St. Peterburg, Florida. She later attended St. Petersburg Junior College, completing courses to be a Certified Nursing Aid. She worked at Rosedale Nursing Home in St. Pete for many years, eventually medically retiring in 1998.

Sharon was kind hearted and friendly. She enjoyed chatting with new people whenever she could and never knew a stranger. She had a big heart and helped others whenever she was able to. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings and was a fantastic southern cook. While her husband, Larry, was alive, they spent hours decorating their home for Halloween and Christmas with lights and inflatables. They often had a stream of cars driving by to admire it. Sharon was an active member of Family Fellowship Church in Kenneth City for many years before moving to Port Charlotte.

Sharon is survived by her children, Sheri Ruffin Halfhill (James) of Monticello; Glen N. Ruffin of Port Charlotte; Owen K. Morris, Jr. of Arcadia, David A. Morris of Malone; grandchildren, Kathryn “Katie” Halfhill of Lakeland, James “Jake” Halfhill III of Monticello, Justin Halfhill of Fayetteville, N.C. and Amberlin Morris of Land O’ Lakes; siblings, Linda Cornfeld (Jeff) of Hollywood, FL., LaVonne Davis (Gene) of Suwanee, GA., Bella Dina Marino of Lyle, IL., Cynthia Dahill (Michael) of Frankfort, KY., Gary Butler (Peggy) of Cameron, N.C., Richard Leonard, Jr. of Ponderay, ID, Rodger Butler and Steven Butler; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Leonard, stepfather Richard D. Leonard, Sr.; father, Grant O. Butler, stepmother, Cora M. Butler; brothers David G. Butler, Ronald G. Butler and her husband Paul Larry Biggers.

A grave side funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at 2:30 PM at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, where she will be interred with her husband. Services will be conducted by Rev. James Halfhill of Waukeenah Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
