Sharon Backers passed away in the morning, Thursday, March 28, 2024. She peacefully stopped breathing in her sleep. She was 81 years old.

Sharon is survived by her two sons, Michael and Justin. As well as seven grandchildren John, Josie, Angelina, Dustin, Jacob, Gavin, Bohdi, her sister Linda and her niece Samantha and nephew Zack.

Sharon founded the rhythmettes dance team at Colerain high school in 1955, traveled the world with her husband, Glen and two children as a dedicated military wife and mother. In her travels, she climbed the pyramids of Giza, the steps of the acropolis in Athens, the Colosseum in Rome, the Eiffel Tower, the castles of Scotland, the Wat temples of Thailand, enjoyed Oktoberfest in Munich, the gardens of Japan and explored every national park in the US, whitewater rafting down the Colorado with her grandchildren at the age of 70.

Sharon founded PureWater Plus, the first water store in Cincinnati being known as The Waterlady to thousands of people, sold insurance until she retired at the age of 75 and had a variety of jobs wherever she was stationed along the way. She loved sales, meeting people, musicals, dancing, camping, cooking and rescuing animals.

Sharon will be cremated in the city of her final resting place, Sarasota, FL, and, according to her wishes, transformed into a coral reef, sprinkled on top of the love of her life, Glen who she lost in 1994, with her remaining ashes to be spread alongside her mother Irene and father Charles.

A memorial service will be announced in the coming weeks. Well wishes can be directed to Michael and Justin.
