We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Steven “Steve” Howard on July 30, 2024. Born on June 19, 1960, Steve, as he was affectionately known, preferred a life marked by adventure, independence, humor, altruism, honesty, passion, politeness, and sensitivity.
Steve leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Pasalis (Howard); his son-in-law, Constantine Pasalis, his two brothers, Mark and George Howard; and his grandchildren, Anastasia and Athan Pasalis. They will deeply miss the conversations and the laughter he brought into their lives.
He was predeceased by his father, George Howard; his mother, Virginia Lance (Ziemski); and his grandparents, George and Grace Howard. Their memories and lessons continued to guide and inspire Steve throughout his life.
A true free spirit, one of Steven’s greatest triumphs in life was his ability to make connections with people from all walks of life during his many travels across the country. A self-proclaimed “long-haired hippie”, he brought color into the world, quite literally, with his penchant for tie-dye. He was a matter-of-fact philosopher in his unique way – he lived by the words, “There are things known and things unknown and in-between are the doors.” These words, credited to the illustrious Jim Morrison, invariably reflected in Steve’s explorative approach to life and homage to his favorite band.
A father, a grandfather, and a friend to many, his legacy is one of kindness, humor, and love. His roles as a father and grandfather were among his most cherished in the latter years of his life, and it is in these roles that his absence will be most acutely felt, particularly by his beloved daughter, who feels there was not enough time with him.
As we bid farewell to Steve, we remember a man who lived with zest, loved with all his heart, and who had the best laugh. His memory will be played out in technicolor, just as vibrant as the life he lived and through his loved ones who remain behind. Rest in peace, “Long-Haired Hippie Father”. You are forever in our hearts.
