William “Bill” James Fowler passed away at the age of 83, on December 2, 2024, after succumbing to a heart attack. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Zaug (102 years old), his wife of 62 years, Barbara “Sue” Fowler, daughter Heather Ross (Roger Ross), daughter Amber Palmer (Justin Palmer), his grandchildren Destiny Palmer (John Salter), Taylor Ross (James Evans), Mikayla Ross, Eli Palmer and Ethan Palmer, his sister Sandy Killgo, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father William Drew Fowler, his stepfather Leo John Zaug, and his sisters Diane Whisman and Sharon Novak.
Bill was born on May 5, 1941, in Gary, Indiana. He graduated from Thornton Fractional North High School, Class of 1959. He attended the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, where he studied Marine Biology and was on the swim team. He went on to work for Winn Dixie for many years, until he found his calling in the field of sales. He worked in the field of sales for 40+ years where he sold everything from cars, window treatments, timeshares, and it was even said he could sell ice to an eskimo. Bill was the Miami Dolphins number one fan, and held season tickets for many years; he knew every stat and watched every game numerous times. He enjoyed singing, family vacations, and loved animals.
Bill wishes to spend eternity with his beloved football team, so his ashes will be spread (at a later date) at the home of the Miami Dolphins. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in his name. Two charities that he felt strongly about would be ‘Alzheimer’s Association – Help Fight Alzheimer’s’ and ‘The Autism Society of America’.
